Johnsville Historical Society Newsletters

The Johnsville Historical Society (JHS) generally publishes two newsletters per year: a Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter edition. All JHS members receive the newsletters in the mail or via email, depending on the preference selected when completing a membership form. Some printed copies are available at the JHS headquarters (also known as the church) on Arastra Street in Johnsville. Newsletters from prior years are posted below.

To receive the current newsletters, please join JHS by completing the membership form. Gift memberships also are available.

We welcome letters to the editor and submissions of historical Johnsville images and documents for consideration in future newsletters; please send them or a description of them to JHS via email at johnsvillegold@gmail.com. Due to space limitations, all submissions are curated by the board of directors.

What We Do

  • At the Johnsville Historical Society, we are committed to curating and sharing historical content, including images, artifacts, and stories that reflect the unique heritage of the Gold Rush era. Through our website, physical exhibitions, and walking tours, we aim to engage visitors in an immersive journey back in time.
  • Our dedicated all-volunteer board of directors works hard to research, document, and preserve the Gold Rush history of the Johnsville area. By collaborating with local experts and organizations, we strive to share with the public the town's evolution and cultural significance.
